Niemeyer Building
AROMO Bossa & Art
The Niemeyer Building in Belo Horizonte, with its undulating, curvilinear façade, is a perfect architectural parallel to Bossa Nova—both embodying a modern, fluid, and distinctly Brazilian elegance.
Designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1950s, the building’s organic lines break away from rigid structures, much like how Bossa Nova softened samba’s percussive beats into gentle guitar rhythms and whispered vocals. Niemeyer once said, “Curves are the essence of my work because they are the essence of Brazil”.
This philosophy mirrors Bossa Nova’s relaxed yet intricate melodies, embracing simplicity, sensuality, and effortless sophistication. Globally admired, both reflect Brazil’s cultural richness and modernist vision.
If the Niemeyer Building were a song, it would be "Wave" by Tom Jobim—graceful, timeless, and unmistakably Brazilian.
